Opera

Write an opera is usually an adventure for several years. We are committed through passion about a topic that invades us. Our Association is planning to create an original opera in St. Petersburg, Russia, to launch a concert tour. The writing of the libretto and the music was given to Marius Devaud, Swiss composer. To produce this opera, business relations have already been taken in Geneva, St. Petersburg, Moscow and Kiev.

The amount of capital required is 3.5 million Euros !

In the following, there are the different phases of the creation and production of the opera :

1. Writing the libretto

The first problem for an opera is first to write a booklet. To transform a literary work in opera libretto, it should simplify the language level, style of dramatic narrative and psychology of the characters. You can not ask a libretto explain everything. Whatever the librettist, the composer will feel the need to participate in the development of the booklet. Only the composer can consider the dramatic development they will need to develop the musical language of the work. This explains why some composers write it even full. This is the case here with regard to our project. Swiss composer Marius Devaud will write himself the libretto.

2. Music composition

The project is to write an opera about three hours, in 3 acts, for a symphony orchestra, choirs and soloists singers. Opera is a drama sung, but adapted to the musical lyrical expression, including singers : soprano, mezzo-soprano, alto, contralto, tenor, baritone and bass. With an accuracy as different colours of voices : coloratura, lyric, spinto and dramatic. Generally, opera is composed of the following parts: Acts, scenes, opening arias, recitatives, final, solos, duets, trios, etc.. Marius Devaud will write the full score of the opera.

3. Music orchestration

Orchestrating an opera involves full knowledge of writing music for a symphony orchestra, choirs and soloists singers. For example, a symphony orchestra minimum standard includes wood (2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons), brass (4 horns, 2 trumpets, 3 trombones and tuba), strings (First violins, second violins, violas, cellos and basses) and the intermediate group (1 harp and timpani). The choirs are composed of female voices (Sopranos and altos) and male voices (tenors and basses). The soloists include women (Soprano, Mezzo-soprano, alto and contralto) and men (tenor, baritone and bass). Marius Devaud will orchestrate the entire opera and provide the complete scores for conducting, choirs and singers. With a piano reduction for Choral Conductors and singers rehearsals.

4. Orchestral material

When the full score of conducting has been written by the composer, it should create the orchestral material. It will extract a copy of the relevant part for each instrument of the orchestra, choirs and soloists. Benchmarks with the orchestra and with the number of blank measures between intervention instrument. All wholesale musical characters, because the player often plays at one or two meters from the partition. Usually, the creation of orchestral material is entrusted to professional music copyists. Formerly, with pen, ink and candlelight. Today, with a music editing software on the computer and printed with a printer.

5. Rehearsals

When all the orchestral material will be ready and distributed to artists, it should start rehearsals for the orchestra, choirs and soloists. First with pianists repeaters for soloists singers, choirs leaders for choirs and orchestra conductor for the symphony orchestra. Then, of course, all musicians and artists together in a professional recording studio for final rehearsals.

6. Music recording

Recording sessions of the opera will happen in a professional recording studio with the musicians and artists. The conductor will lead the whole and have full responsibility for the interpretation of the opera. With qualified personnel, including record producers, sound engineers and staff Stewardship studio. Placement of microphones, headphones, recording phases, mixing and final mastering track recording. Recording sessions, tracks mixing and final mastering of the opera can last several weeks.

7. Promotion of the work

When the entire opera will be recorded in digital quality, should be obtained contracts with theaters for a concert tour opera. The business objective is to obtain production contracts under license from the record companies to produce and distribute CD's. For contracts sought, it is essential to have funds to finance the promotion and advertising of the opera with the international audience, with radio and television.

The production of the opera costs 3,500,000 Euros. Thanks in advance for your support !
